Property : Colorless hexagonal system prismatic crystal or white crystalline powder. Relative density : 2.014. Easily soluble in water and inorganic acid, insoluble in ethanol. Decomposed into silicon tetrafluoride, water and silicon fluoride when heated to 100°C.
Use : Preservative in wood industry, hardener in concrete, intensifier of calcined gypsum, treating compound, moth proofing agent, catalyst of polyester fibre. Also used in preparing electrobath.
